How it works
Quick Add keeps the title clean. Recognized date, time, priority, project, label, amount, estimate, and recurrence text turns into chips below the input. Press Enter or Add to save.
Examples
Metadata can appear before or after the title. Todello removes parsed metadata from the saved title unless the words are part of the task itself.
Call dentist tomorrow at 9am p1 #health
Task title: Call dentist. Date, time, priority, and project chips.
Drink three glasses of water every day @home
Task title keeps the unit text. Amount, recurrence, and label chips.
Review launch project "zenith ops" 1h 30m
Multi-word project plus estimate. Estimate requires h/m shorthand.
#work every day run 15 times
Metadata can lead. Saved title becomes Run when capitalization is on.
Syntax reference
These are the patterns Quick Add recognizes today.
Dates and time
tomorrow- sets a due date
at 9am- sets a due time
this week- uses your configured week start
next weekend- uses your configured weekend start
Priority
p0, p1, p2, p3, p4- sets exact priority
priority high- sets P1
prio:medium- sets P2
urgent p- sets P0
Projects and labels
#work- sets or creates a project
project "zenith ops"- supports multi-word project names
project work- uses one unquoted project token
@home- adds an existing label
Amount and estimate
3x- sets amount to 3
five times- sets amount to 5
20 pages- sets amount and keeps pages in title
1h, 45m, 1h 30m- sets estimate when estimates are enabled
Recurrence
daily or every day- repeats daily
weekdays- repeats Monday through Friday
biweekly- repeats every 2 weeks
weekly on friday- repeats on Friday
Notes and subtasks
regular note lines- become task description
- Call Sam- becomes a subtask
- Prep deck- adds another subtask
Notes button- opens inline notes before saving
Manual controls
Focus the bar to reveal controls. When Quick Add already parsed a value, the matching control is replaced by a chip.
Date
Pick today, tomorrow, week, weekend, next month, custom date, or typed date text.
Time
Pick a due time without adding time words to the task title.
Priority
Choose P0 through P4. Parsed priority chips hide this control until removed.
Project
Send the task to Inbox or an existing project.
Amount
Track repeated units such as reps, pages, glasses, or sets.
Recur
Use presets or the custom repeat builder with stop date, count, and first due date.
Estimate
Use presets or custom durations such as 1h 30m when estimates are enabled.
Notes
Add description lines and dash-prefixed subtasks inline.
Tips and limits
Use quotes for multi-word projects. Without quotes, project reads one token as the project name.
Labels attach only when a matching label already exists. New projects can be created from parsed project text or the project token autocomplete.
Natural estimate text such as 1 hour meeting stays in the title. Use 1h, 45m, or 1h 30m for estimates.
Recurrence text uses exact phrases. For anything more specific, use the Recur control and its custom builder.
